Karl Slover best known for his role in the 1939 family classic ‘The Wizard of Oz” has passed away at the age of 93. MSN News reported that Slover, who was one of the last surviving actors who played Munchkins died on Tuesday November 15,2011 of cardiopulmonary arrest in a Georgia hospital. Friends close to Slover revealed that Mr. Slover had appeared the weekend before his death at some Chicago hosted events. The 4-foot-5 actor, who was the smallest of the male Munchkins, also played a number of roles in the hit film including the lead trumpeter in the Munchkin’s band, a townsman and a soldier. Throughout his life and career Karl Slover continued to make appearances around at festivals and events related to the ‘Wizard of Oz’ film.In 2007 Slover was one of seven, of the 124 actors who played Munchkin actors who appeared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling that was dedicated to all the little people in the film. Only three of the remaining 124 Munchins are still living today.
